About Me
We offer a wide range of creative services. Take a look at what we can offer to your company.
I see visual design as a way of capturing the quiet emotional states that exist between reality, memory, and imagination. Much of my work is driven by a desire to understand how images hold meaning—how a color, a symbol, or a gesture can carry personal histories while also resonating universally.
I often draw from cultural motifs, atmospheric storytelling, and the tenderness found in everyday moments. Whether I am illustrating intimate scenes for a pet-lifestyle brand or designing symbolic systems based on the sun, moon, and Chinese Zodiac, my practice is rooted in translating emotional nuance into visual form.

Happy & Polly — Social Media Illustration Series
This illustration series was created for Happy & Polly, a contemporary pet-lifestyle brand known for its playful, emotionally driven approach to cat furniture design. The brand’s visual identity centers on softness, warmth, and imaginative forms—often transforming functional furniture into sculptural, story-like objects. Their products aim to create an environment where pets and owners share a sense of comfort, companionship, and delight.
Building on this understanding, my illustrations focus on intimacy, scale, and interaction. Each image portrays cats actively engaging with products such as the Pulper Woven Flower Cat Tree, Moonlight Cat Tree, Mushroom Loft, Transformable Cheese Cat Tree, and others. Rather than depicting the furniture as isolated objects, the scenes integrate the product into soft, atmospheric environments—emphasizing how these items shape daily routines and emotional connections in multi-species homes.
Visually, I adopted a gentle palette and cohesive compositional rhythm to enhance brand continuity across social media formats. Expressive poses, flowing contours, and narrative gestures create a sense of motion and warmth, aligning with the brand’s goal of fostering emotional closeness. The illustrations function not only as promotional assets but also as micro-stories—each presenting a moment of play, rest, or curiosity that reflects Happy & Polly’s user-centered philosophy.
The final artworks were incorporated into the brand’s official social media communications, demonstrating their adaptability within existing brand systems. This project strengthened my understanding of how illustration can serve as a strategic tool in brand storytelling—bridging aesthetics, emotional psychology, and product communication to enrich a company’s visual identity.
Ghost BC Vinyl Record Design
FTA Project
The project began with an in-depth visual study of Ghost BC’s existing album covers, symbols, and narrative motifs. This research guided the development of three different versions of the vinyl packaging, each exploring a unique interpretation of the band’s themes. After confirming the initial drafts, I illustrated the main visuals by hand. Since Ghost BC is known for performing with distinctive masks that evolve through different eras, I focused on some of their most representative mask designs from Generation II, III, and IV. These illustrations became the core visual language for the project and were incorporated into the packaging, poster, and vinyl label designs.

The final deliverables include:
• A complete outer packaging design
• A custom vinyl label and disc illustration
• A protective inner sleeve
• A full-size promotional poster
• A lyric booklet designed in three unique folding structures, offering different tactile experiences

Insights
This project allowed me to combine illustration, layout composition, material exploration, and narrative design into a cohesive collectible vinyl set. It represents my early exploration into bold contrasts, identity-based design, and the integration of hand-drawn artwork into physical music products.

Dynamic Day–Night Dial Clock
P5.js Interactive Simulation
Introduction
This project is an interactive 24-hour dial clock created with p5.js, designed to visualize the transition between day and night through rotating graphics, image sequencing, and symbolic cultural elements. The concept combines the sun, the moon, and the Twelve Traditional Chinese Zodiac animals into a unified visual time-telling system. The result is an expressive digital installation that blends technical coding practice with personal and cultural storytelling.
At the core of the interface, the clock operates as a full 24-hour cycle:
• The central sun represents the a.m. hours, while the moon represents the p.m. hours.
• The rotating dial completes two full rotations every 24 hours, visually dividing the day into two 12-hour segments.
• Surrounding the dial is my illustrated set of twelve zodiac animals — rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig — each symbolizing a specific period in the traditional Chinese time system.
Beyond technical structure, this clock carries deeply personal meaning.
Placing these two symbols at the center creates a timepiece that reflects my family connection and the guidance they bring to my life. The surrounding zodiac layer pays homage to traditional Chinese culture, bridging personal identity with historical symbolism. The sun and moon symbolize my parents and myself:
My Parents’ Name: 顾小旦and许仲昊
• “Dan (旦)” and “Hao (昊)”meaning sunrise, appears in my mother’s name and represents warmth and new beginnings.
My Name: 许茗玥
• “Yue (玥),” meaning a full bright moon, is part of my own name, symbolizing clarity and wholeness.
The interaction is enhanced by a moving shelter layer, which gradually covers and uncovers the sun or moon to mimic the natural progression of light. This creates a smooth, atmospheric visual representation of shifting time. Throughout development, extensive adjustments were made to the shelter’s motion path, image positioning, and rotation logic to ensure that key zodiac symbols remained unobstructed and visually balanced.
Technically, the simulation uses preloaded image assets, time-based calculations via millis(), and synchronized transformations to maintain consistency across the dial, shelter, and background transitions. Each element updates dynamically based on the passing of real time, forming a cohesive and evolving animation.
Progress in P5js
Final Outcome
Although the clock is conceptual rather than precise to the minute, it succeeds as an atmospheric and meaningful visual system. It merges illustration, coding, cultural storytelling, and digital animation into a unified interactive artifact — one that represents both the passage of time and the enduring presence of family and heritage in my creative practice.
Neoloop
This project investigates the psychological implications of increasing dependence on AI and virtual worlds through an abstract narrative of visual effects. A protagonist who is always looping through different digital environments is trapped; it represents the metaphor for disorientation, emotional weariness, and the collapse of real-life experiences within technology-mediated spaces.
My role began with narrative design and storyboarding, where I structured the looped journey using repetitive actions and shifting environments as metaphors for psychological stagnation. Varied camera perspectives and spatial distortions helped construct a visual language of confusion and detachment.

During production, I led green-screen coordination and live-action integration, including camera operation, lighting control, and actor direction. Adopting a hybrid workflow allowed us to combine live footage with digital environments more efficiently while maintaining cinematic depth.

Post-production
In post-production, I focused on matte painting, AI-assisted environment creation, chroma keying, and compositing. By integrating 3D renders with AI-generated backgrounds, I constructed immersive cyberpunk-inspired spaces that aligned with the project’s thematic tone. Detailed color matching, shadow integration, and movement synchronization ensured coherence between live-action and virtual elements. I also composed the project’s soundtrack using AI tools to reinforce its contemplative atmosphere.

Final outcomes
This project strengthened my understanding of hybrid VFX pipelines and demonstrated how conceptual ideas can be translated into technical and aesthetic decisions. It highlights my ability to integrate storytelling, environment design, and digital compositing to construct emotionally and thematically driven visual experiences.

Nan-Nan
This is the IP character I designed for the city of Suzhou.
Inspirations
It incorporates elements of Suzhou gardens and Kunqu opera in its design. On her ears, she wore osmanthus, a plant and spice beloved by the people of Suzhou. Her dress was composed of the ponds found in gardens, with the collar and waist of the outfit incorporating the shape of the pipa, a musical instrument, and the chest featuring the window design typical of traditional Suzhou gardens.
